Can You Take Me Higher?

Description

Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time
Said, up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine...

So let's go there...
Let's make our escape...
Come on, let's go there...
Let's ask "Can we stay?"...

Can you take me higher?
To a place where blind men see?
Can you take me higher?
To a place with golden streets?

UGH, I hate colored pencils. I really need to just find some markers in the shades that I want. :shakefist: Sorry about the cruddy quality on this one, I lacked the patience to spend several hours using the smudge tool on GIMP to fix things up. :(

Anyways, in that last poll Ditzy/Derpy came in first by about 2-to-1 over Spitfire, with Doctor Whooves just a few votes behind. Since I'm not going to ship DerpFire anytime soon, and since I think "Time Bubbles" is a cute couple, I decided to draw the Doc and Ditzy/Derpy having a personal moment. Don't ask why Doctor Whooves isn't falling to his death; that would ruin ZE MAGICS!!!

I was originally going to base the picture off of Robert Palmer's song "Bad Case of Loving You" (the whole "Doctor, Doctor, gimme the news" part was just too tempting. XD) But I couldn't make any of the ideas I thought up work out on paper. Then I stumbled on "Higher" by Creed, and thought "Hey, this could work!" :D It's a pretty trippy song, and I think the lyrics fit the mood of the picture pretty well. You can check out the song here: [link]

It's very well done. It's original, a tad raunchy but it's a good type of raunchy. It's not the sexual aspect that caught my attention but rather the flow of sentiment between the two characters. I can feel the joy and care between Doctor Whoves and Derpy, the love and care alliterate to the David Tennant Doctor (10th) and Rose Tyler. It's he sweet, tender passion that I like to see in art of this genre. On on overall view rating it gets 4 out of 5 stars!
